Welcome to the 2012 Whiskey Waxing Beard & Mustache Competition. Whiskey Waxing is a San Francisco Bay Area competition celebrating local hairy talent on the old Barbary Coast. Contestants judged on their form & ability to sip whiskey or tea.

 Renowned bartenders Jeff Hollinger and Jonny Raglin of Absinthe Brasserie & Bar, partnering with Bill Russell-Shapiro and The Absinthe Group, pour classic drinks in a setting that preserves the saloon’s historic design elements and pays tribute to San Francisco’s Barbary Coast.

Chris Sollars

For Hairy San Francisco based artist Chris Sollars shaved with an axe and made a wig from his beard. This former Beardo Awards include 2007 Eureka Fellowship Award, a 2007 San Francisco Bay Area Artadia Grant, and 2009 Headlands Center for the Arts residency.

Jonny Raglin

Oklahoma native Jonny Raglin moved to San Francisco in 2000 to pursue a career as a professional bartender. With more than a decade of bartending experience, Jonny Raglin’s dream of opening his own bar has finally come to fruition. In 2009 Jonny with renowned bartender Jeff Hollinger opened Comstock Saloon. Jonny has been none to sport a serious Bartender stache.
